You know your baby is struggling with sleep, but do you know WHY? Many newborn babies struggle with protest before they go to sleep and then once they are finally unconscious, they wake often and struggle to get the sleep they need to feel well-rested. This can be confusing and frustrating for parents who KNOW their baby is exhausted and yet, they cannot seem to find a clear pathway to healthy independent sleep.
Interestingly, under-tired babies (who need longer awake times to fall asleep and stay asleep) and over-tired babies (who have sleep debt, cry inconsolably and struggle to take quality naps because they re-alert with a start after just 20-30 minutes) often have the same symptoms. This makes it difficult for parents to take action and help to create a solid foundation for healthy sleep from the start.
This video is a great place for tired and confused parents to start understanding what the underlying cause of your newborn’s short naps and struggle to self-soothe.
