After working with hundreds of parents to teach a solid foundation for healthy sleep, I full trust that babies are capable of self-soothing! And you can be the coach and guide that they need to learn these life-long tools for independent sleep.
Naps are a great place to start, so if you have a baby who is struggling to sleep independently, try providing them with some opportutnies to nap independently. I like to call these “napportunities”. Your little one may seem resistant at first, but with practice, they will relax right into the skills you’re helping them to build.
This video is a great place for tired and confused parents to start:
For those of you who watch this and have questions or concerns about sleep, I’m happy to see if I can help by jumping on a Free Newborn Strategy Session. I have created a Newborn Sleep Class so that parents can learn why sleep challenges are occurring and gain tools and strategies to lay a foundation from health sleep – without guilt and tears!
The most common thing I hear after talking with families is, “I can’t believe I waited so long to get help!” So reach out now for support and reassurance that will save you worry (and save your little one tears) in the future.
